Another form of foam interior is polyethylene foam. Polyethylene foam is closed cell, which means moisture cannot get trapped inside the foam. It is also a much higher density foam than polyurethane. I recommend the polyethylene foam for people with heavy guns such as .50 calibers or for someone that does a lot of traveling with their guns. Another advantage of the polyethylene foam is the life of the foam. Oils used in cleaning your gun will deteriorate polyurethane foam after a year or so, leaving you no option but to reorder foam. Polyethylene foam will hold up for a longer time because of its extreme density. Polyethylene foam is also easier to cut to custom fit your guns because of the density. You will pay more up front for polyethylene foam, but it is well worth the investment.
